Jim Bob Horn Obituary

Jim Bob Horn died peacefully in his home surrounded by his children on February 19, 2024 in Spur, Texas at the age of 82. Jim Bob was born on May 3 rd , 1941 in Spur, Texas to Clyde Horn and Lena Garland Horn. By a chance meeting on the highway and whirlwind courtship of six months he married his wife of 58 years Barbara Marshall on July, 25,1965. Jim Bob and Barbara built their home together at the site of the old Red Hill school where they began their long life of growing cotton, cattle and boys. Jim Bob and Barbara welcomed Mark and Chris into their home and set about teaching them skills needed in life and farming. His family remember him for his hard work, conversation skills, love for his family, friends and for animals, who was never short of encouragement.

Jim Bob is survived by his two sons Mark of Trinidad, CO, and Chris and wife Rachel of Spur. Five grandchildren, Joel of Katy, TX, Athena and husband Ian of Cleveland, OH, Austin of Grand
Junction, CO. Eoin of Spur and Liam of Montgomery, AL. Two great-grandchildren Hazel and Milo of Cleveland, OH.

Not wanting to be separated from her, he was preceded in death by only 6 weeks by his wife Barbara of Spur. Also, by his sister Nelda Boone of Mineral Wells, TX and parents Clyde Horn
and wife Lena of Spur.

Jim Bob graduated from Spur High School in 1959 and joined the Air Force in 1960. After the Air Force he worked as an electrical lineman putting up transmission line across the Texas big
country. Jim Bob never got over his love for being outside and playing in the dirt, which is why farming was the life he chose. He loved his community and was never far away when someone
was in need. Jim Bob could never pass up a coffee pot and many joked that coffee was what flowed through his veins. Always putting others before himself, Jim Bob was never shy of a
conversation or advice. Quick with a joke and a nickname, his passing leaves an emptiness difficult to fill.

A memorial is scheduled for Saturday March 9, 2024 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church in Spur, TX. Rory Mosley will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim Bob’s life.
