Eduardo Tijerina

Eduardo Tijerina, 94, of Spur died Friday, November 7, 2008 in Lubbock. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Paul Kariakatt officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Eduardo was born March 16, 1914 in Red Rock, TX to Manuel and Amelia Tijerina. He married Elvira Marquez September 12, 1935. She preceded him in death December 15, 1973. He had lived in Spur for about 30 years having moved here from Mathis, TX. Eduardo worked at the Watson Gin for many years, and drove a sanitation truck for the City of Spur for a few years before his retirement.

Mr. Tijerina is survived by two sons, Edward Tijerina, Jr. of Mathis, TX and Eddie Tijerina of Dallas, TX; six daughters, Beatriz Castro of Lubbock, TX, Petra Flores of Washington, Louisa Molina of Baytown, TX, Rebecca Perez, Anita Ortiz both of Dallas and Toni Fernandez of Spur, TX; three sisters, Trinidad Ortega of Temple, TX, Manuela Pineda of Mangum, OK and Marina Hernandez of Mathis, TX; 55 grandchildren, 119 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvira; his parents; three daughters and four sons.
