Gay Nell Adams

Gay Nell was born the seventh of eight children to W.E. “Ervin” and Lillian Pearl Smith. She grew up in the Valley View community in Cottle County on the farm where lots of love grew. She attended Valley View Baptist Church with her family where she accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of 9. She also attended Paducah schools.
After meeting Elmo, she moved to King County where she spent much of her life. She spent the first part of her married life as a farmer’s wife in the Grow community. After moving to town, she babysat before they opened Babe’s Café where they fed many people “King County” omelets and Friday night fish. She spent the last years of her life serving the community and the children in Guthrie CSD.
Gay Nell is survived by 3 sons:
Travis and wife, Suzy of Guthrie
Randal “Tige” of Paducah
Heath and wife, Christy of Guthrie
Grandchildren: Ty of Guthrie; Kaylee of Rochester; Randy and wife, Tasha of Midland; Andrew of Clarendon; Kelly of Childress and Laythen of Panama City Beach, FL.
Brothers and Sisters: Frances Sims (Jack), Charles (Rosa), Sandra Smith, James Donald (Mary), Shirley, Barbara and Jan Byrd and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elmo Adams of 43 years; her parents Ervin and Lillian Smith; one brother, Carroll Smith; three brothers-in-law; Jack Sims, Walter Mayberry and Larry Byrd.
