Maria (Mata) Mendez

Another Angel joins the Heavenly Choir…..

On January 29th, 2019, Maria M. Mendez was welcomed home by a host of the heavenly angel choir….

Maria was born September 15th, 1945 in Hidalgo, Texas, to Manuel and Petra Mata. She married Sergio Mendez and they eventually settled in Paducah, Texas.

Maria worked as a dietary aide for 15 years at the Paducah Nursing Home. She loved her job, the residents and all her coworkers. A lot of coworkers lovingly called her “Mamacita” and she loved it.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Andrew Mata; nephew, Joe Mata; and great great grandson, Christopher Michael.

Maria is survived by her children, Gracie Baker from Oregon, Manuel Mendez from Childress, Texas, Ester Garibaldi from Frisco, Texas; sister, Jovita Cornelio from San Juan, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
