Virgil Dean Dozier

Virgil Dean Dozier was born August 6, 1935 in Dumont, Texas and passed away in the early morning of July 8, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. However, the birth and death of this great man is not nearly as important as the days that he spent living life to the fullest.

The youngest of fourteen children, family has always played an important role in Virgil’s life. He was never happier than when he was around kids and loved ones. He led by example – always showing kindness to others, never passing judgement, and proving that quiet men tell the best jokes.

Virgil is proceeded in death by his father, William Walter Dozier; his mother, Mary Edna Dozier; and eleven of his siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Laura Reynolds Dozier; his brother, Louis Dozier; and sister, Geneva Cisco.

Loving father of Larry Dozier, Gaylon & Shaunah Dozier, and Stacy & Chris Rekieta.

Proud grandfather to Tonya Dodson, Steven Dozier, Megan Inman, Matt Dozier, Chasen Smith, Skylar Kindle, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God Church in Paducah, Texas. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 11 at Zapata Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
