Alan Mayfield Obituary

Alan "Red" Mayfield, 57, of Jayton died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be 11 am, Saturday, December 6 at Jayton Cemetery with Mark Whitmire and Rev. David Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at Campbell Funeral Home in Spur from 6-8 pm, Friday.

Red was born March 29, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM to the late Lester and Valeria Rich Mayfield. At the age of 15 he moved to Afton to live with his Grandma and Grandpa Rich, and graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1969. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1972. He married Kim Smith on February 27, 1987 in Jayton. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed dayworking. He loved his children and grandchildren, and took great pride in his family.

Red is survived by his wife, Kim Mayfield of Jayton; one son, Lynn Mayfield of Jayton; two daughters, Stephanie Lewter and husband Jeff of Wilson, and Dana Beck and husband Steven of Paducah; one brother, David Mayfield of Lubbock; one sister, Brenda Mayfield of Dayton; five grandchildren, Gage and Lathan Lewter both of Wilson, and Madison, Marley and Brody Beck all of Paducah; and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews..
