Arvis Davis

Arvis Davis, 93, of Paducah, TX passed away on Monday July 26, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Tullis and Mada (Smith) Davis. Arvis attended school and completed Clarendon Jr. College in Clarendon, TX. He married Jo Anne Blackwell on August 13, 1948 in Clarendon, TX. Arvis later moved his family to Paducah, TX in 1962 where he started Arvis Davis Chevrolet House and worked there until his retirement in 2020. Arvis was very proud that in 2003 the Arvis Davis Chevrolet House was ranked #2 in the nation for customer service.

 His wife of 58 years, Jo Anne, passed away in July of 2006. Arvis later married Janis Lawrence in Childress, TX on August 11, 2017. Arvis was a member of the Lions Club, First United Methodist Church of Paducah and Childress. He served as board President for Paducah ISD as well as board President for the bank board.

Arvis was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jo Anne.

He is survived by his wife Janis Davis, daughter, Tracy Prater and husband W.E. Prater, MD of Breckenridge, step daughter, Julie Barber and husband Jeff Barber of Amarillo, Grandchildren; Megan Prater and Jacob White of Watauga, Will Prater and Caitlin Gibson of Richmond, VA, Step Grandchildren; Emily Barber and Addison Barber of Amarillo, Great Grandchildren; Holen and Hayden White of Watauga, Collin and Porter Barber of Amarillo

Funeral services will be held  10:00 AM Thursday July 29, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Paducah, TX followed by interment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
