Rebecca “Becky” Jean Allen Alexander McGalliard passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023. Her passing leaves her family and friends with an emptiness but joy as she has returned
to our Lord.
Becky is survived by her husband, Marshall McGalliard, and her children, Jerry Alexander, Paige Alexander Bizzell, Dale McGalliard, and Heather McGalliard Wheeler. Her nine
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will forever remember her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Eloise Allen, her brother David Allen, and
widowed by her first husband, Jerry Alexander, Sr. Becky was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi, on February 12, 1944, where she remained
until she graduated from Meridian High School. She left for the University of Mississippi, marrying Jerry Alexander Sr. in Meridian on February 1, 1963. In their four years of marriage
came two children, Jerry Jr. and Paige, before Becky was widowed unexpectedly on May 24,1967.
On April 26, 1968, Becky married her husband of 55 years in Bay St Louis, Mississippi, where she moved her family to Spur, Texas, producing Dale and Heather to complete a family of six.
In Spur, she would find a home, a community, and friendships that would highlight her greatest strength. Her love of Jesus Christ and her faith in ministering to the children in her life, both at
home and as a teacher, are the dominating themes in which Becky lived. She lived for her family and friends and used faith and Christianity as the glue that bound them.
Becky could be found on ski slopes until she was 69, in the New Mexico mountains with lifelong friends, traveling to stock shows as a mom, playing the piano in her church, finding
grandchildren events to attend, or disappearing to College Station to watch her Aggies on the weekend. Mixed in her travels, she finished her degree from Texas Tech at the top of her class.
When she wasn’t traveling or working, she constantly reflected on her faith and continued ministering to all she encountered. Her hugs and care could cure whatever ails you, and her
impact on lives goes beyond just Spur, TX. She defined a giving heart and will be forever missed. She has again found her voice, and we will meet again.
