Betty Park Obituary

Betty Ruth Deaton Park passed from this life January 23, 2024 in the Lubbock Heart Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 79. She was born to Bert and Jewel Deaton on October 13, 1944 in Graham, TX. She is survived by her daughter LaKenna Simpson and husband Bobby of Dumont and her son Scott Park and wife Andra of Paducah. She lived in Dumont Texas for almost her entire life. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1962. She married Kent Park in May of 1962 shortly after graduation. She skipped her senior trip to go on a short honeymoon. She and Kent farmed and ranched their family land together at Dumont for many years. She also served 31 years as a teacher’s aide and bus driver for Patton Springs ISD. She truly had a heart for children,
anyone that ever sat around their table felt like family.

Betty loved dancing, music, fishing, hunting, ranching, and her grandkids. She knew every Bob Wills song, and had all the local dances in her datebook. She was an avid outdoor person. She would rather feed cows than keep house. She also took care of the Dumont Cemetery for many years. Betty enjoyed hearing news and getting pictures of her grandkids and great grandkids. Grandchildren include: Keeley Grant (Kensley, Kitley & Kalvin) of Lufkin, Tori Jameson (Justin & Thatcher) of White Flat, and Demi Cochran (Coby & Callia) of Aspermont.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Dumont Cemetery Association at Wellington State Bank
