Billie Marie (Hindman) Bass
Billie Marie (Hindman) Bass, age 93 of Spur, Tx passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Lubbock, Tx surrounded by her family. She was born on December 30, 1931, in Spur, Tx to Ollie Hindman and Ruby (Lilly) Hindman. She was raised in Spur and graduated from Spur High School in 1949. She attended Texas Women's University in Denton.
On February 26, 1950, Billie married the love of her life, Graden Bass. Together they raised their four children in Spur.
As a homemaker, Billie was involved in many community organizations, the Spur Home Demonstration Club, Dickens Co. Spur Library Board, Spur Senior Citizens Board and Spur Art Guild. Her favorite past times involved many golf games at the Spur Golf Course and afternoon games of Bridge with her friends.
Billie spent a short time working for the City of Spur, where she and Bill Gregory facilitated a special housing project within the city.
Billie had many talents, the one most noted was the countless hours she spent in front of the sewing machine creating beautiful clothes for herself, and her three daughters. Billie was an avid reader. She loved a suspenseful mystery novel.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Graden, and her two brothers Don Hindman and Ted Hindman.
She is survived by her sister Nelda Tyler of Abilene, Tx, her four children Ronnie Bass (Shelley) Tomball, Tx, Nancy Allen (Doug) Lubbock, Tx, Joy Jones (Richard) Lubbock, Tx, Laurie Hinson (Chuck) Spur, Tx, her grandchildren Slater Bass (Niki) Tomball, Tx, Cody Allen (Stephanie) Jayton, Tx, Cheyanna New (Adam) Lubbock, Tx, Craig Jones (Hannah) Ropesville, Tx, Brandon Jones (Lyndal) Shallowater, Tx, J. Don Hinson (Jessica) Tomball, Tx, Brady Hinson (Lindsey) Lubbock, Tx, Landon Hinson (Lexie) Spur, Tx, Lyndie Joplin (Stormy) Lubbock, Tx, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor Billie's life will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Spur, Tx, under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Spur Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
