David Allen Albin passed away on May 14, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 62. Born on May 12, 1963, in Spur, Texas, David lived a life rooted in kindness, curiosity, and deep love for his family, the outdoors, and the simple joys of life.
David spent 24 years working with Albin & Associates Insurance and later joined the service department at Pollard Ford in 2017. No matter the job, David approached his work with integrity and dedication, always striving to serve others well.
He was a man who found peace and wonder in nature—whether it was a road trip across the country, sitting quietly by the water, or catching a breathtaking sunset. He had a lifelong fascination with weather and found joy in both the vast beauty of the mountains and the stillness of the desert Southwest.
David was known for his unmistakable stance—feet shoulder-width apart, hands on hips—a symbol of his steady, grounded presence. He had a soft spot for animals, a sweet tooth for cookies and peanut brittle, and a unique sense of humor that often emerged in his goofy made-up rhythms and his own version of “Margaritaville.” He was an early riser who treasured quiet mornings and was always ready with a warm smile or a playful joke for his grandkids, whom he adored.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Gail Wright Marion and stepbrother CPT Paul E. Marion.
David is survived by his wife of 9 years, Karen Albin; his daughter and son-in-law, Taryn and Gary McMillan of Odessa; his son and daughter-in-law, Spencer and Jodi Albin of Midland; their mother Malia Albin; his stepchildren Megan Moore of Lubbock and Austin Moore of Woodbridge, VA; his father and stepmother David and Cheryl Albin; his stepfather David Marion; his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Tom Rees of Sweetwater; his sister Kathy Fisher of Bryan; his stepsister and brother-in-law, Raye Leigh and Jonathan Stone of College Station; his stepbrother and sister-in-law, Brent and Shannon Kennedy of Midland; his 3 grandchildren Bella, Addy, and Taytum; his 10 nieces and nephews Loren, Sarah, Julia, Allyson, Jessica, Sophia, Alathea, Joshua, Brennon, and Sutton; and numerous loving relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Spur Cemetery. David’s legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength and perseverance will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
