Paducah Class of 1978
Debra Ann Whitaker 65 years
August 25, 1959 - June 9, 2025
Debra Ann Whitaker passed from this life on June 9th, 2025 in Paducah,Tx at the age of 65. Debra was born on August 24, 1959 to Lowell Don and Louise Gunn Whitaker. She was the third of four children. Debra spent the majority of her life in Paducah, Texas. She graduated from Paducah High School with the Class of 1978. She attended nursing school at Vernon College. She worked as a nurse for many years, as well as an EMT on the ambulance in Paducah. She dedicated her life to the service of others. Most recently she worked at the Paducah Food Pantry. Debra had many friends and loved ones, but her children were her pride and joy. Her son Tyler was born in 1989. As a single parent, she had to work hard to provide, but she always made time for her son. If you called her on a Saturday morning, you were probably going to have your call cut short. Saturday mornings were reserved for a phone call from Tyler. She knew he was going to call and ask,” What do you say Fred?”. In June of 2000, she was blessed with a beautiful surprise, her daughter Sherry. She was so proud of Sherry. They gave each other fits from day one, but she wouldn’t have traded her for the world. She loved her children with all her heart. She made certain that they were loved as much or more than children with two parents. She also had a deep love for her son Tyler’s step-children, Tristan, Zane, and Kaimen Story. Debra was well known to many. If you knew her, you knew two things for fact, she loved her children, and she loved her Dr. Pepper. She always gave a smile or a wave when she was out and about. She was a beautiful soul. She had a strong relationship with God. She always taught her children to put their faith in the Lord. She wanted to ensure they had a strong foundation in Christ. When one of her children had a problem, she would say, “give it to God, and let him handle it”. Debra will be missed by many, but rest assured she it’s with her Lord and Savior.
Those that proceeded Debra in death, are her parents, and her brother Tom. Many of her best friends, Sherry and Stu Moore, Kenny and Ida Bragg, and Jackie and Linda Paschal.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her son Tyler whitaker and his wife Ashley (Tristan, Zane, and Kaimen) , and her daughter Sherry Whitaker and her husband Jessie. Her sisters Donna Taylor and husband Bill, and Diane Endicott and husband Kevin. Debra also leaves her two nephews, Jay and Wife Hillary and children, and Matt and wife Kendra and children. She also has many adopted children(friends of her children), and her adopted niece Amanda Dewey.
