Dell (Forgus)Bearden, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 80 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 2, 1944, to Delmar and Sue John (Wood) Forgus in the Scurry County Hospital in Snyder, Texas. The story was that her mother went to hospital with the flu and came home with Dell. Dell's early years were joyfully spent with her brothers, Ronnie and George Forgus, and her sister, Sandra Forgus Wilson, in a four-room farmhouse in the Mt. Blanco community in Crosby County. She later graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1962 and continued her education at South Plains College. The 1970’s and 80’s saw Dell dedicating herself to raising her family, working diligently, and actively supporting the school and athletic teams in Matador, Texas. After relocating to Santa Fe, New Mexico, she worked in the state capitol until her retirement from the State Land Office in 2012. Dell then returned to Roaring Springs to be close to family. Dell loved her family, her country, and football. Her passion for the game extended to her favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and the Red Raiders. . Dell was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Sue John Forgus, as well as her brother Ronnie Forgus and her sister Sandra Forgus Wilson She is survived by two sons, Shawn (Mendy) Bearden of Abernathy and Brandt (Amy) Bearden of Roaring Springs, and her cherished grandsons Britt (Kelley) Bearden of Lubbock and Tanner (Pauline) Bearden of Midland, two great-grandchildren, and her brother George Forgus of Hamilton.
