Donald “Donny” Ray Taylor

Spur, Texas
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald “Donny” Ray Taylor, age 62, who went peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on March 16, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on October 29, 1962, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Donny was a man whose passion for life and dedication to his family and work were unmatched. He spent his life with oil running through his veins, sharing his deep love for the oilfield industry with his wife, Cynthia, and their children, and inspiring the next generation. His legacy will live on through the countless memories he created and the invaluable lessons he taught.
Donny was a man of hard work and commitment, always striving to give his all, working around the clock to ensure every job was done right. His love for the oilfield was evident in everything he did, and he would always go the extra mile to get things done, no matter the obstacles.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Taylor, and their children: Donald Taylor and Crystal Hammonds, Michael Taylor and Samantha Taylor, John Taylor and Ana Taylor, Monique (Nikki) Taylor and Lino Najera, and Shannon Whitefield and Dakotah Whitefield. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kayden Taylor, Bryson Taylor, Karsen Taylor, Kensley Taylor, Zabdy Najera, Peyton Taylor, Corbyn Taylor, Taylor Taylor, Mason Taylor, Taven Whitefield, Macie Taylor, Karley Whitefield, Autumn Taylor, Aven Islas, Amiyah Whitefield, Samuel Whitefield, Avery Taylor, and Brecklyn Taylor.
He is also survived by his parents, John and Shirley Taylor; his brothers, Dennis Taylor and Mark Taylor; and his sister, Chrystal Taylor.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Zapata Funeral Home, 602 Burlington Ave, Spur, TX 79370. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Freedom Church, 412 E Hill St, Spur, TX 79370. Burial will follow at The Donald Taylor Family Cemetery, 881 CR 482, Spur, TX 79370.
Donny’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and the importance of family. His unwavering dedication to both his career and his loved ones will never be forgotten.
