Dorothy Ruth (Ashley) Fletcher

The Lord called home one of His sweet angels on earth, Friday, March 5th 2021. 
 Dorothy Ruth Ashley's life began on January 18th, 1930. She was born to Lottie May and Floyd Ashley, in Kilbourne, Louisiana. She was one of six children. She met the love of her life Leon William Fletcher, in Lake Providence, Louisiana who she married in September 1945, where they also gave birth to their only child, their daughter, Carolyn Ann. 
Through Dorothy's life, she was very active in church; from singing in the church choir to serving through several ministries. She was a proud sister of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron many years, among other positions. Dorothy spent her whole life serving others. From working night shifts at the fire department with her husband, to owning and running the city cleaners, to many routes delivering Meals on Wheels. She loved to play cards and was part of many Bridge clubs for many years and loved hosting when it was her time for them to play at her house. Her passion was crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing. She was the town seamstress and blessed many people with her beautiful work. 
If you knew Dorothy well, you knew her love for sweets and that she always had a peppermint or "something sweet", that she almost always and just enough of for each of her great-grandchildren any time she saw them.
Dorothy is proceeded in death by her parents, Lottie May and Floyd Ashley, her siblings; Johnnye Kossefis (sister), JW Ashley (brother), Helen Reed (sister), Billy Ashley (brother) and Freddie Ashley (brother) and her husband, Leon William Fletcher.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Carolyn and her husband Sam Hext, her granddaughter Ashley and her husband Tom Jones and her great-grandchildren, Grace, Jacob and Corbin. 
Dorothy is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and cousins as well as many other relatives who loved her dearly.
Services for Dorothy will be held at 10AM Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Paducah, Tx at Zapata Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service and Garden of Memories.
