Dwight Dillashaw Obituary

Dwight Edward Dillashaw was born December 9, 1939, in Spur, Texas,  to Charles Edward and Aila Owens Dillashaw.  His parents moved from Spur to Orange, Texas, during World War II.  His early years were divided between Spur and Orange.  Most of his time in Spur was spent growing up on the John Guitar Ranch in the home of his grandparents, Jess and Ola Owens.  He was a 1958 graduate of Spur High School.  He married Sandra Faubus on Sept 20, 1958 at the home of Cecil and Sybil Estep in the Dry Lake Community near Spur.  Having married “the Farmer's Daughter,” he farmed with his father-in-law, Floyd Faubus, until his passing in 1974.  Dwight and Sandra spent their lives farming and tending their cattle together.  They bought a farm in the Gilpin community in1972 and lived there ever since.  He was truly a man of God, and had been a member of the Steele Hill Church of Christ for over 60 years. In later years, with the decline of the rural population, he often conducted the services by himself. When not on the farm, he was a ginner at the Farmer's Coop Gin in Spur.  He and Sandra also ran the Girard Gin for a time. He was very involved in the Boll Weevil Control Program. With the decline in farming, he spent many years as a carpenter.  He had a love for the Lord, the land, and his family. He was a strict father, but loving “Daddy” who taught his children the value of hard work and integrity.  Work was his hobby.  He enjoyed building things.  He cherished his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as they did him.  He lived to pull pranks on them.  He spent countless hours watching ball games, track meets, and stock shows.

He is survived by his wife of over 63 years; one daughter, Donna Kidd and husband Steve, of Jayton; Two sons, Ikey, and wife Sally, and Edd, and wife Stacie; all of Lubbock, six grandchildren,

Brandon Kidd (Jennifer), Cayden Conner, and Cierra Conner, all of Lubbock, Cheyenne Conner, of San Antonio, Tasha Kidd Rivera (Mario), of Jayton, and Chelsey Dillashaw Sheppard (Tee) of Crosbyton; four great-grandchildren; Jaydon and Jayce Rivera of Jayton, and Weston and Wyatt Kidd of Lubbock; a sister, Sue Parker, of Aspermont, and brother-in-law, (aka son) Ray Faubus.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Neail Dillashaw, and infant daughter, Deborah Dillashaw.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
