Gena “GG” Spradling died peacefully in Plano, Texas on September 3, 2025 at the age of 55.
Gena was born on September 30, 1969 in Lubbock, Texas to Elvis and Jo Ann Spradling. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Childhood and Human Development. She began working for the city of Carrollton as a teenager as a pool attendant and worked her way up to a Senior Center Administrator in the Parks and Recreation department. Gena retired from the City after 28 years of service. She also worked with various youth groups, coaching basketball, teaching Sunday School, and Summer Church Camps.
Gena is survived by her mother Jo Ann Spradling of Sumner, Texas and her brothers James Spradling of Wright City, Missouri and Mark Spradling of Sterlington, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her father Elvis Spradling of Sumner, Texas.
Gena was a people person. She loved talking to everyone and she never met a stranger. She used the talents God gave her to help those around her. She was a dedicated member of Emberson Baptist Church and her Carrollton and Sumner communities.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday September 5th from 5 pm to 6 pm.
Graveside service is scheduled for Saturday September 6th at Girard Cemetery at 10 am. Pastor Gary Reed will officiate the celebration of Gena’s life.
Memorial services will be held at Emberson Baptist Church Sunday September 7th at 2 pm.
