Hal Hollar, age 63, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024. He was born on May 18, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas, and grew up in Paducah, Texas, where he graduated from Paducah High School. Hal was a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, known for his deep love of family, the outdoors, and his unwavering spirit. Hal’s faith has always been important to him as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 11 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Paducah, TX.
Hal’s life was marked by his dedication to hard work and a passion for the great outdoors. He was a master diesel mechanic, using his skills to repair and maintain heavy machinery. His love for fishing, hunting, boating, and riding horses was evident, and he found peace and joy in nature. A true outdoorsman, Hal's heart was always at home by the water or on the trails.
After spending many years in Texas, Hal moved to Mississippi, where he earned a degree in psychology. His education allowed him to pursue his passion for helping others, especially those battling addiction. Having overcome his own struggles with addiction, Hal became a source of strength and guidance for many, eager to support anyone fighting the disease that had once challenged him.
In 2013, Hal moved to the Austin, TX area to be closer to his family in Lake Travis. He cherished his time with his loved ones and found immense joy in his hobbies, particularly fishing on the lake.
Hal worked for A.O. Tractor until his health began to decline. Despite his personal challenges, he remained a constant source of love and support for his family. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and his passion for life.
Hal is survived by his mother Patsy Walling of Bee Cave, TX, two sons Brandon Hollar of Booker, TX and Joshua Hollar, grandson Jacob of Abilene, TX, sister Fawn Hollar of Bee Cave, TX, his uncle Burl Hollar and wife Carlene of Clarendon, TX, and his Aunt Betty Cutshall and husband Bob of Lakeway, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hollar and grandparents Ross and Loretta Thomas and Clyde and Annie Sue Hollar.
