Heath Givens Obituary

Heath Wesley Givens passed away in Crosbyton, Texas on January 18, 2024, at the age of 50. Heath was born on April 25, 1973, in Lubbock, Texas to Preston and Lucinda Givens. As a child, Heath spent his time running around the farm and traveling with his sheep to various stock shows alongside his sister, Kandice. In school, he was an avid member of FFA, finding himself involved in many stories that will be told for years. He also was heavily involved in the Spur Bulldog football team, as the team’s beloved quarterback and “Boomer.” Heath attended Spur ISD, graduating in 1991.

After graduation, Heath attended Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. After spending some time there, he then transferred to Texas Tech University where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Ag Education, completing his student teaching under Mr. Burkett in Guthrie, Texas. He soon went on to earn a master’s degree in the same field from Tech.

From there, he returned to his hometown of Spur, Texas to join the family business of farming alongside his dad. In 2003, Heath welcomed a daughter, Madison Brooke Givens, into the family. Six years later, another daughter, Weslyn Olivia Givens, was welcomed into the world. His girls were his joy. As the years passed, Heath enjoyed his time on the farm. While he faced his own struggles throughout the years, he is now at peace, which is the most joyous ending of all.

Heath is survived by his two daughters, Madison and Weslyn Givens of Spur, his mother, Lucinda Givens of Spur; his sister Kandice Bell and husband Warren Bell of Leander and their children, Appolynne and Ashton Bell; his uncle, Mickey Givens and Alexa Collier of Crosbyton; aunts, Susan O’Brien of Abilene and Sue Givens of Wichita Falls; cousins, Casey (Jamie), Kylyn (Rob), Kris (Shay), Eric (Melissa), Adam (Mallory), Jennifer (Jonothan), Chad and a multitude of other loved ones. He is proceeded in death by his father, Preston Wesley Givens; grandparents, Melvin and Lena Givens and Al and Jo O’Brien; uncles, Tommy O’Brien and Ted Givens; aunt, Kathy Givens and many other beloved friends and family that he will meet at the gates.
