Jason Parrish “J Bird”
Jason Parrish, lovingly known as “J Bird,” passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of 47.
Jason was born on April 3, 1979, in Post, Texas, and grew up in Spur and Arlington, TX. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs, but his true passion was working on motors and transmissions. Whether he was under the hood of a vehicle or behind the wheel of his dad’s tow truck, Jason found joy in the work he loved. He also learned to work on air conditioning systems from his uncle, David Blackburn, adding to the many skills he carried with him.
Jason was known by family and friends as the one you could always count on—the “go-to” person who could fix just about anything. He was dependable, hardworking, and always willing to help without hesitation.
Above all, Jason’s greatest love was his son, Gage, who was truly his pride and joy. He also shared a special bond with his nephew, Landen. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for those two boys, and they meant everything to him.
He is survived by his son, Gage D. Parrish of Idalou, Texas; his father, John R. Parrish of San Angelo, Texas; his parents, Doug and Linda Blackburn of Spur, Texas; his sister, Stephanie P. Blackburn of Idalou, Texas; and his nephew, Landen E. Leyva of Idalou, Texas. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Frances Blackburn of Spur, Texas, and Regina P. Parrish of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary DeLeon; his grandfather, Robert A. Blackburn, Sr.; and his grandfather, John F. Parrish.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Community Bible Chapel in Spur, Texas. A viewing will be held prior to the service. Officiating will be C.C. Noland, Pastor, along with David Blackburn.
