Jerry Don Flournoy

Jerry Don Flournoy, 76, of Spur, TX entered heaven’s gates on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

Jerry was born October 24, 1944 in Ralls, TX to E.H. and Tess Flournoy. He spent his early years in Crosbyton, TX and later graduated from Crosbyton High School.  After graduating he spent one year at West Texas University in Canyon, TX.

Jerry met his wife, Beverly in 1964 on a blind date and a year later they married on April 22, 1965 in Lubbock, TX. They moved to Midland, TX where Jerry worked for Western Electric for 13 ½ years. They were blessed with two sons while in Midland, TX, Donald Bruce and David Brian. In 1970, they moved back to Lubbock around that time he was offered a job in Spur, TX to work for Cap Rock Telephone, Co. They moved to Spur, TX where Jerry worked 25 ½ years for Cap Rock Telephone, Co. and retired December 31, 2004.

Jerry enjoyed golfing regularly with his friends, Joe Harrison, Pete Dobbins, Randal Gilcrease and Woodie McArthur. They shared many laughs, fun and lies for many years together. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling and especially traveling to Las Vegas where he loved to gamble for fun. Beverly’s sister, Linda and her husband Bob Wilson lived in Vegas and it afforded them the opportunity to have an inside track for information and places to visit and see. He saw Vegas grow from a small town to the great big city it is today. Jerry and Beverly were blessed to visit Germany, Switzerland, France and Luxembourg as a result of a son being in the Air Force and stationed in Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents, E.H and Bernice Tessibel Flournoy and brother, Jimmy Dale Flournoy.

Those left to cherish his memory, wife, Beverly Flournoy of Spur, TX, sons; Donald Bruce Flournoy (Jessica) of Eagle River, Alaska, David Brian Flournoy (Sue) of Lubbock, TX, brother, John Eugene Flournoy (Valorie) of Whitney, TX, eight grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way whom he adored.

Services are scheduled for Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00AM at the First United Methodist Church in Spur, TX. Interment to follow at Crosbyton Cemetery, Crosbyton, TX under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dickens County EMS or Spur Volunteer Fire Department.
