Jerry Faye (Shipman) Land

Jerry Faye Land, born in Crosbyton, Texas, to CA and Faye Shipman, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025. 

Raised in Spur, she was a member of the class of 1964, where she showcased her talent as a high school basketball player.

Throughout her life, Jerry built a diverse career, working in the restaurant industry for several years and later serving with EMS in Brownwood. She devoted much of her time to being a loving homemaker.

Jerry married the love of her life, Jimmie Land, in Comanche, Texas, on September 3, 1987.

She loved fishing and was a bingo enthusiast, Jerry also loved going to the casino, indulging in shopping trips, and traveling whenever possible.

Jerry is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judy Bales, and her stepson Jesse Land.

 She is survived by her devoted husband Jimmie Land, her brother Clifford Shipman and wife Martha from Lake Brownwood, Texas, her sister Kay Fong of Rankin, Texas, and her children: Chester Ray Smith of Brownwood, Texas, William Jay Smith and wife Stephanie of Clyde, Texas, and Joseph Shae Smith and wife Marie of Brownwood, Texas. She is also survived by her daughters Linda Fay Brown and husband Jeff of Spur, Texas, and Roberta (Robbie) Kay Martin and husband Bill from Graham, Texas, as well as her stepson Jimmy Paul Land and wife Tammy from Amarillo, Texas.

Jerry cherished her family and is remembered as a loving grandmother to18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way.

Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be in the hearts of those who knew her.

Graveside services will be held  2:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Spur Memorial Cemetery with Eric Swenson officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 PM Wednesday March 12th.
