Jimmy Royce (Burr)Cowan of Gardendale Tx went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 8, 2025 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa Texas at the age of 86. We rejoice in knowing that he accepted the Lord on October 26, 1969 at Jal First Baptist Church. He is survived by his faithful wife of 13 days shy of 67 years, son JD (Cindy) Cowan, daughter Jill (Jim) White , grands Colton (Charlee) Cowan, Kelby (Ashley) Cowan , Jennifer Curd, Royce White, great-grands Novah Cowan, Everlyn Cowan, Austin White, Dylan Kidd. Jimmy was born on October 31, 1938 to Roy Waldon Cowan and Rachel Merle Cowan at Knox City, Tx. He completed the 9th grade and became a cowboy on the SMS ranch. After cowboying for many years he began working for El Paso Natural Gas, until he retired after 38 years. He gave everything he had and had the best work ethic. He was very crafty with tooling leather and wood working. He worked well with his hands. If it was a challenge, he’d figure it out and the results would come out amazing! He enjoyed golfing until his health made it where he couldn’t play anymore. We will miss him dearly, but we know that he is in the arms of Jesus! Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday June 12, 2025 at the First Baptist Church, Spur, TX followed by interment at the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jimmy’s life. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 602 Burlington Spur Tx
