Obituary

JoEtta (Marshall) Bumgardner passed away June 21st, 2023. She was born June 5th, 1938, in Wichita, KS to Joe and Bertha (Dennett) Marshall. She was named after an aunt and her maternal grandmother. As a small child her parents moved to the family farm near Andover Kansas where she spent her childhood and school years. She met and married Dale Bumgardner, of Eureka Kansas, on June 25th, 1960.  She was employed as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital until the birth of their son, Joe Dean, then became a stay-at-home mom. Dale, employed by Koch Industries was eventually transferred to Texas. In December 1976 they moved to Matador Texas where they put down deep roots and resided until her death. JoEtta became very involved in the community. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations, substitute taught in the school system for 27 years. She loved her church, the Matador Methodist Church. She was passionate about her work in the church kitchen making sure that delicious meals were served with a touch of elegance. JoEtta loved the young people of the area and became known as, “Nana Jo”. She loved her life and the people of Matador.

JoEtta is survived by her husband Dale and son Joe Dean of Wichita Kansas.

A memorial service will be held later after a time of healing for Dale, Joe Dean and her very loved town of Matador.
