John William Smith passed away on February 13, 2025, in Amarillo, TX, at the age of 77.
He was born on August 6, 1947, in Matador, TX, to W.A. “Bill” and Floye Smith and was raised in Dumont, TX. John graduated from Guthrie High School in 1965. On April 25, 1972, he married Glenda Sandefer in Matador, TX.
John had a deep love for the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and training bird dogs. He was known for his gift of storytelling, and his hunting buddies cherished his entertaining tales. He also had a remarkable singing voice that brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Smith of Dumont, TX; his son, John Hal Smith of Minnesota; and a host of loving family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. “Bill” and Floye Smith.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
