Joie Wayne Truelock, 58, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, entering into the presence of his Heavenly Father and finding eternal peace, free from pain.
Joie was born on August 11, 1967, in Paducah, Texas, to Alton and Kaye Truelock. He attended Guthrie High School, graduating in 1985, and later earned an associate degree in computer programming from Texas State Technical Institute in 1990. He served with dedication at the TDCJ Roach Unit for eight and a half years, rising to the rank of lieutenant. He then spent 19 years with Burnett Oil Company before ultimately pursuing his true passion—operating heavy equipment and doing dirt work alongside Stephen Brady, where he found great pride and fulfillment in his craft.
On May 27, 1989, Joie married the love of his life and best friend, Robyn. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three daughters: Kayla, Jacquelyn, and Shelby. Though he often joked about being outnumbered at home, his wife and daughters were the center of his world.
Joie’s greatest joy came with the arrival of his grandchildren, whom he adored as their proud “Poppy.” He treasured every moment spent with them—whether fishing, playing outdoors, or happily spoiling them at every opportunity.
He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and a true passion for operating heavy equipment. Whether it was a dozer, motor grader, or backhoe, Joie approached his work with skill, dedication, and pride, always determined to do the job right.
Joie was also known for his love of cooking and hospitality. His home was always open, and no guest ever left hungry. He found great joy in gathering people together, and his legendary barbecue burgers will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of enjoying them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Truelock; his mother-in-law, Rose Marie Jeter; his father-in-law, Joie Ray Jeter; and his niece, Ashlye Kaerwer.
Joie leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 36 years, Robyn Truelock of Paducah; his daughters, Kayla and husband Mark of Paducah, Jacquelyn and husband James of Lubbock, and Shelby and husband Conner of Tampa, Florida; his mother, Kaye Truelock of Paducah; his sister, Jeannie Puckett of Paducah; his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Box, Jack Worley, and Jolie Worley; and his faithful blue heelers, Scout and Skipper.
Joie will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
