Jose Angel “Cheeks” Sanchez, 37, of Afton, TX entered heaven’s gates on Sunday October 25, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas.
Jose was born in Georgetown, TX on July 14, 1983 to Grizelda Sanchez. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School in 2001. For several years, Jose was and auto body paint & repair technician.
He married his wife Lori Castro on November 8, 2010 in Spur, TX. He took on the role of father to her four children and from their union, Daniel Angel Sanchez was born.
At the time of Jose’s death, he was employed by the City of Matador, Matador, Texas.
Jose will be remembered for his love of his Lord, family, extended family, church family consisting of Freedom Church of Spur, TX, Springs of Life Church of Roaring Springs, TX and his Patton Springs family in Afton, TX.
Jose was known as a man with a winning smile, a joke to tell, and a contagious laugh. Jose is easily described as the “real deal” a genuine kind of guy. What you saw is what you got. He was truly a once in a lifetime kind of man. He knew he wasn’t perfect, but was unapologetically himself, and for that reason he was loved by many and touched so many lives.
Those left to cherish his memory, wife, Lori Sanchez of Afton, TX; sons, David Reyna, Devon Reyna and Daniel Sanchez of Afton, TX; daughters, Desiree Reyna of Colorado Springs, CO and Destinee Reyna of Kilgore, TX; mother, Grizelda Sanchez (Ector Loyola) of Manor, TX; grandmother, Severa Meza of Georgetown, TX; siblings, Janie Clever and husband DJ of Manor, TX, Jesus Chavez of Matador, TX and James Loyola of Manor, TX; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family and friends will miss his spontaneous personality, cheerful attitude, radiant spirit and his “ROAR” when hearing the Christian song “Warriors of Worship”.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 6-8 PM at Zapata Funeral Home, Spur, TX.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, October 30, 2020 at Freedom Church in Spur, TX with Pastor David Zarate of Freedom Church and Pastor Russell Chandler of Springs of Life Church officiating the ceremony.
The family would like to thank the Dickens County EMS, the Covenant helicopter flight service, and the Covenant Staff for their efforts, care, and dedication.
