Josephine Arroyos (Saldivar), 81, of Jayton, Texas, passed away on April 5, 2025, surrounded by her family and at peace with her Lord and Savior.
She was born on April 10, 1943, to Benito and Maria (Refugia) Saldivar.
Josephine found her true love in the 1950s when she met Gerald “Laly” Arroyos in Olton, Texas. The couple married and moved to Plainview, Texas, where they spent over 50 years raising their family. Together, they built a life full of love, hard work, and dedication.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Josephine worked alongside Gerald in his masonry subcontractor business, handling the books and supporting him in any way she could. She took great pride in being a homemaker, enjoying cooking, baking, canning, gardening, and sewing. Her family was her world, and she poured love into every aspect of their lives. Josephine was known for her unwavering devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She never swore or drank, choosing instead to be a constant example of grace and love.
She is survived by her six daughters: Laurinda Rios (Tony) of Fort Worth, Texas; Suzanna Segura (Julian) of Jayton, Texas; Geraldine McClure (Dan) of Canyon Lake, Texas; Kathy Hernandez (Tom) of San Angelo, Texas; Angelica Arroyos of Lewisville, Texas; and Veronica Garza (Lance) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Sister, Mary Lou Martinez . Josephine is also deeply cherished by her 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Gerald “Laly” Arroyos; her sisters Juanita Moralez, Gregoria Saldivar Ramirez, and Lidia Tarin, and her brothers Manuel Saldivar and Eusebio “Chevo” Saldivar.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who have offered prayers, condolences, gifts, flowers, and well-wishes during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East 6th St. Spur, TX 79370
