Judith "Judy" Beauchamp Obituary

Judith (Judy) Ann Beauchamp, 81, of Lubbock passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2025.  Because of Judy’s faith in Jesus, we know she is walking the streets of heaven right now and we will one day see her again.

Judy was born in Paducah, Texas on October 7, 1943 to Claude and Lillie Reed Canon.  Judy was the baby of 9 children, and grew up in different small towns in Texas including Carey, Hackberry, and Sundown. After graduating from high school, Judy married the love of her life, Norman Beauchamp, on August 24, 1962.  They began building their life together, and with time added three daughters, Sherri, Kim, and Sonya.  Early in their marriage, they moved to Dumas, TX where they would call home for over 58 years.  They were active members of the First Baptist Church and together she and Norman taught Sunday School for many years. Judy spent her days taking care of her family and also worked several years as the Mother’s Day Out Director at First Baptist Church.  She was up early each and every morning cooking a full breakfast for Norman before he left for work, and then cooked another round for her girls when they woke up.

Judy enjoyed reading, was an incredible cook, and she loved to fish with Norman.  She spent lots of time caring for her yard and was even honored with yard of the week multiple times. As a talented seamstress, Judy made sure her girls always had one-of-a-kind outfits to wear when they were young.    Before they moved to Lubbock, she loved going with Norman several times a week on drives down to the lake to check water levels and take in the wildlife along the way.  Until it was too difficult for her to get around, she was always ready to lend a helping hand to others and modeled that ministry well for her girls. Judy was a loyal and loving wife, mother, Memaw, and friend.

Judy was greeted in heaven by Norman and their oldest daughter, Sherri Emmert, her mom and dad, and all of her siblings.  Those left to carry on her legacy is her daughter Kim and her husband Brian of Baton Rouge, daughter Sonya and her husband Shawn of Lubbock.  Judy’s grandchildren are Chris Urban, Landon Urban, Leagan Wilson, Addie Wilson, Hollis Wilson, Beckett Barger, and great-grandchildren Ayden, Slade, Phoebe, Phoenix, Audrey and Evelyn.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Paducah, Texas followed by graveside at Garden of Memories in Paducah.
