L.Z. “Sonny” Tilley, 75, of Spur, TX passed away Tuesday June 16, 2020 in Clyde, TX. Sonny was born on November 10, 1944 in San Angelo, TX to L.C. Tilley and Thelma Fay (Hale) Tilley.
Sonny worked and retired as a lineman with the power company. He then managed and lived on a ranch where he fulfilled his love for being a cowboy, and leading guided hunts. He loved his guns! Sonny was one of a kind and strong willed. You never knew what he was going to say or who he would offend. You would definitely know what was on his mind! Sonny never left home without his shaved face, cowboy hat, boots and nice shirt on. He always made sure he looked his best.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons; Brad Tilley (Michelle) of Wichita Falls, TX, Greg Tilley of Anson, TX, and Chris Tilley (Ranie) of Tuscola, TX, sister; Jan Tilley Kunz, three brothers; Roy , John, and Bruse, son-in-law, Jerry Roberts, 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Katina Roberts, six siblings; Beverly, Vickie, Bobby, Ronnie, Donnie, Billie Ray and Jackie.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Espuela Cemetery in Spur, TX.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday June 17th at Zapata Funeral Home Spur, TX.
