Lana P. (Rape) McGee

Lana Rape McGee “Granny”, 69, of Jayton, TX passed away June 9, 2021. She was born August 24, 1951 in Matador TX to Nelson and Druline Rape. She graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1969. She married Jerry McGee in 1971 who preceded her in death in 1979.

Lana was very outgoing, she loved people, sports and she also loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed watching her boys play football and basketball when they were in high school for the Anson Tigers.  In recent years you could find her cheering on the Jayton Jaybirds and the Jayton Lady Jays. She retired from Kent County sheriff’s office where she worked as a dispatcher.

Lana is survived by her mother Druline Rape, two sisters Angie Ward of Spur and Debbie Slough of Amarillo. Two sons, Dale McGee of Anson and Kerry McGee of Jayton. Nine grandchildren, Kyler McGee, Bryce McGee, Bryanna McGee, Seth McGee, Clay Griswold, Francisco Martinez, Ashtyn McGee, Katherine McGee, and Asiah Belle McGee.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday June 9th from 6 to 8pm at Zapata Funeral Home in Spur. Lana’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service on Saturday June 12th at 10:00 A.M. at the Spur Memorial Cemetery with Jamie “Bear “Braly officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
