Leo Bennett Archer Jr, 92, of Matador, TX passed away September 16, 2023, in Plainview, TX.

Leo was born on May 16, 1931 to LB Archer Sr and Elizabeth Turner Clemmons Archer in their Matador home. Leo grew up and attended school in Matador. He graduated from Matador High School in 1948. He married Joyce Allene Martin on August 4, 1951. They were married for 71 years; Joyce died in May of this year.

Leo joined the Marines in 1951. He was in Korea from 1952-1953 and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Leo was a man of extraordinary intelligence and mechanical ability; he could create, make, and/or fix just about anything. He worked several jobs in his life including farmer, rancher, and mechanic. No matter what they brought around, he would help build a house for it, take care of it, feed it, doctor it or do whatever was needed.

Leo is survived by his son, Jon Bennett Archer, his daughter, Nancy Archer Branson, grandchildren Kristen Fears, Katelyn Branson Dame, Clif Archer, Alexis Archer, and his great grandchildren.

Leo is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Joyce, his brothers and sisters; Jessa Lee Archer Lancanster, Hope Clemmons Conroe (husband William Conroe), Ben Houston Clemmons (wife Beth), Imogene Archer Gibson, and Billy Joe Archer Compton, His son, Russ Wayne Archer, granddaughter Shannon N Archer and grandson Kyle B Archer.
