Mac Farrel Driggers, 88, loving husband and father, stepped out of this life and into eternal life with Jesus on Monday, February 1, 2021.
A celebration of Mac's life will be held Friday, February 5, at 2:00p.m., at First Baptist Church in Spur, TX, a visitation will follow the celebration service in the fellowship hall all are welcome. Services are under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home in Spur.
Mac was born on May 5, 1932 in Gilpin, TX to Walter and Mattie Driggers. He graduated from Spur High School in 1950. He worked in the oil field and owned his own business before taking over the family farm in 1962.
On December 23, 1955 he married the love of his life, Neta Fay Burch, the couple recently celebrated 65 years of a wonderful loving marriage. Mac and Neta shared their love of the farm and wonderful home-cooked meals.
Mac valued his faith, his family, and his farm. On the farm, he worked tirelessly, and his fields had no weeds, and his grassland had no mesquites.
Mac was a humble servant leader. He served almost 60 years at First Baptist Spur as a Deacon and most importantly as a friendly smiling face that welcomed attendees as he greeted them and handed them a bulletin each week.
He also served 32 years as a founding board member of the Spur Cemetery Memorial Association, 15 years as a Spur Farmers Coop Gin board member, and 9 years as a Spur ISD board member.
Mac cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he rarely missed a game or life event if they were involved.
Mac was preceded in death by one son, Mark Driggers, his parents, Walter and Mattie, one sister, Robbie House, and one brother W.J. Driggers.
Left to honor and extend his legacy are his wife, Neta, two sons and their wives, Phil Driggers and wife Paula, of Lockhart, TX, Trent Driggers and wife Dedra, of Snyder, TX., Two sisters, Gwen Goodwin of Topeka, KS, and Marlaine Neeley and husband Kenneth of Amarillo, TX. 5 Grandchildren, Becca Smith and husband Reed of Thompson’s Station, TN, Kcie Alberts and husband Christopher of Austin, TX, Colby Driggers and wife Cylie of Brownwood TX, Tyler Driggers and wife Laura of Lubbock, TX, and Jentri Turner and husband Layton of Lubbock, TX, and also 8 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers; Colby Driggers, Tyler Driggers, Layton Turner, Reed Smith, Christopher Alberts and Grayton Smith. Honorary pallbearers: the deacons of the First Baptist Church of Spur, TX and the Spur Memorial Cemetery Association Board Members.
