Madaleno Rivas Obituary

Madaleno (Leonard) Ray Rivas, 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Childress Tx. He was born on July 22, 1946 in Natalie Texas.

Leonard worked as a farm hand for over 30 years with Marvin Sossaman, Booger Adams, and Jackie Bratton.  Leonard found his next calling working in construction with Ballou and Kiewitt Construction until he retired in 2014.  Leonard enjoyed his time working in construction because it gave him the chance to travel, see different parts of the world, and to meet new people.

One of Leonard’s favorite past times was to reminisce with the guys and talk about the good ole days in Chalk, Sneeville, Dumont, and his hometown Paducah. In addition to reminiscing, Leonard loved to tinker with junk items, create crafts, and watch his favorite western movies. Leonard also adored spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren; spoiling them at every opportunity.

He was preceded in death by his parents Augustine Rivas and Erminia Garcia Alvarado, his ex-wife Mary Garcia Rivas, grandson Jonathan Miguel Rivas.

His survivors include wife Marian of Anson, sister, Frances (Luis) Landrum of Plainview, brother Gabriel (Pauline) Rivas of Canyon, brother, Rudy (Martha) Rivas of Waco, son, Andy Rivas of Paducah, son, Nick (Cathy) Rivas of Willis, daughter, Melissa-Lois Lane (Jaime-Superman) Vizcaino of Abilene, daughter, Dorian LeCroy (Adrien Briley) of Wichita Falls, son, Carlos (Michelle) Garcia of Abilene, daughter Feliverta Rivas of Lubbock, step-daughter Melissa Victoria Ortega of Anson, step-son, Joe (Melissa) Ortega Jr of Arlington, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a very special friend Worth Durham of Wichita Falls Tx.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
