Martha passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 surrounded by her children, sisters, and other beloved family members.
Born in Reedville, Texas, Martha became a permanent member of the community in 1965 and remained a constant presence.
Martha had the heart of a servant and was always ready to lend a helping had by providing meals, supporting neighbors to access health care, or just being a friend. A long-time volunteer at the food pantry, she spent countless hours to ensure those most in need had access to food.
Martha loved to bake, cook, crochet, and craft. She was handy with a sewing machine and gardening brought her great joy.
Preceeding her in death are her parents, Juan and Felipa Salinas, her bothers Juan Salinas Jr, Juan Francisco Salinas and sister, Rosa Salinas. She is survived by her children Nancy Merfeld, Gretchen (Guy) Barnes, Crystal (Alan) Lawson, Raquel Hernandez. Her sisters Minnie Salinas and Victoria Salinas, and 6 grandchildren Drake Harris, Alex (Kate) Davila, William “Ace” Davila, Marisa Lawson, Madeline Sumner and Mia Sumner.
