Nora Jeanne (Summers) Deaton

Nora Jeanne Deaton, 94, passed from this life on November 30, 2021 in Gainesville, TX.

Nora was born on November 5, 1927 in Greenville, TX to Wilbur and Margaret Ann Summers.  She graduated from East Texas State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  She worked in the Texas school system for 35 years.  The majority of that time was spent as an elementary teacher in Paducah. Nora married George Vestal Deaton on June 15, 1950 in Greenville, TX.  From this union they had one child Rusty. After retirement, she and George enjoyed many years of traveling and spending their summers in Ruidoso, NM.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Rusty Deaton and wife Tammy of Lake Kiowa, TX, granddaughters Kaitlyn Deaton of New Braunfels, TX and Kristyn Deaton of Plainview, TX, along with extended family members and friends.

A graveside service for Nora Deaton will be held on Friday December 3, 2021, 10:00 am, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah, TX with Tim Moore officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Paducah.

Memorial donations in honor of Nora can be made to the First Baptist Church, Paducah, TX.
