Pamela Michele Buckner “Pam” (Austin) died peacefully in Amarillo, TX on July 5, 2020 at the age of 60.
Pam was born on September 17, 1959 in Spur, TX to Charles Dickie Austin and Elizabeth Irene Turner Austin. She married James Dirk Buckner on July 7, 1992.
Pam is survived by her mother: Elizabeth Austin of Spur, TX. Two children: Shaun Powell of Amarillo, TX and Brandy Ellis (Delbert Ellis) of Wink, TX. Two grandchildren: Grayson Ellis of Wink, TX and Clayton Ellis of Wink, TX. Two brothers: Bret Austin (Reena Austin) of Lubbock, TX and Russell Austin (Caro Austin) of Greenwood, TX. She also had a host of nieces and nephews. Pam also left behind 5 dogs: Zeke, Zero, Gypsy, Gus, Cricket, and one cat: Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Buckner, her son, Lucas Powell, and her father, Dickie Austin.
Pam loved everyone. She really thought a lot of her friends in Wink. She was a very caring person and would have done anything for anybody. She never met a stranger. She always laughed a lot and had a big smile on her face. Earlier in her life she volunteered to help in youth activities her children were involved in. Pam also worked at various jobs throughout her life. She was a bookkeeper for several different companies as well as a supervisor at the USDA Cotton Division. She was deeply passionate about animals; her dogs were her life! She led fundraisers for veterans and dog rescue organizations. She liked to travel and always looked forward to her yearly trips to Wyoming to visit her family. She was an active member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 9 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Zapata Funeral Home, 602 North Burlington, Spur, TX.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday, July 10, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ, East Hwy. 70, Spur, TX with David Pafford officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home. A reception is to follow at the Church of Christ. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pam’s life.
