Raymond David Taylor, known to family and friends simply as David, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his family.
David was born on July 24, 1952, in Matador, Texas, to Raymond and Margie Taylor. He was the fifth of six children and was raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family.
On February 23, 1970, David married the love of his life, Frances Martin. Together they built a loving home and shared many years of memories.
David worked a variety of jobs throughout his life before retiring from the County of Motley in 2020. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
He loved spending time on the golf course with his buddies and treasured every moment with his family. His greatest joy came from the people he loved.
David was preceded in death by his dad, Raymond Taylor; his siblings, Gail Dove, Dennis Dove, Joy Dove, and Leslie Taylor.
He is survived by his mother, Margie Taylor of Matador, TX; devoted wife, Frances Taylor of Matador, TX; sister, Janice Martin and husband Alvin of Matador, TX; child, Tammy Simpson and husband Terry of Matador, TX, and nephew Shane Taylor, who was like a son, and wife Wendi of Hale Center, TX; his grandchildren Kyla Simpson, Korbyn Simpson and wife Brittany; great-grandchildren Creed Airhart, Ryatt Simpson, and Carson Simpson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
David will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, love of family, and the friendships he cherished. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services for David will be held 10:00am Tuesday June 30, 2026 at the East Mound Cemetery in Matador, TX with Chad Lawrence officiating.
