Rita Dian Estes passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in Matador. She was 71 years old.
Dian was born in McAdoo, Texas, February 2, 1950, to Luster and Agnes (Abercrombie) Meredith. She attended school in Roaring Springs where she lived most of her young life. Dian was a fun-loving person and enjoyed visiting with family over coffee. She enjoyed listening to country/western music and was an excellent dancer. She enjoyed watching crime dramas on TV and figuring out “who did it.”
Dian lived in Kansas many years and worked as a CNA in various care centers. She loved her work. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Estes; her daughter Angela Tate Martin; her parents; three brothers, Joe Meredith, Johnny Meredith and Jackie Meredith; three sisters, Doris Thames, Yvonne Wilson and ElWanda Carson. She is survived by two granddaughters, Jessica Blackburn and Keisha Martin; three great-granddaughters, Leslie Blackburn, Isabelle Blackburn and Layla Rose McCurry; and four great-grandsons, James and Chevy Blackburn, Zerrick and Woodrow McCurry, all of Kansas; a brother, Bennie Meredith of Roaring Springs; two sisters, Verlon Lindsey of Clute and Mariilyn Weise of Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
