Robert Lenoy Forbis saddled up and rode into Heaven on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 90.
Bob was born on January 3, 1935 to the late Frank and VeraBelle Ethridge Forbis in North Dickens County.
He graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1953 and then attended Texas Tech University. He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Gage, on June 10,1955.
They lived on the Forbis Ranch for the next 70 years, farming, ranching and raising a family. Bob was a third generation cattleman on the ranch and was still feeding cattle at the time of his death.
He was a pillar of the community and served on many committees during his lifetime. These included Patton Springs ISD school board, Dickens County Livestock Show, Dickens County Electric Cooperative, South Plains Electric Cooperative, Farm Service Agency County Committee, Afton Co-Op Gin Board of Directors, and Motley Dickens County Old Settlers Reunion and Rodeo.
Bob was a member of the Afton Baptist Church and attended the Matador Church of Christ. He was a 2nd degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife Pat of Afton, daughter Kim Parker(Jimmy) of Canyon, son Craig(Donna) of Odonnell, grandson Justin Parker(BaLinda) of Meadow, granddaughters Jayme LeMaire(Tony) of Mansfield & Mandy Nichols(Blake) of Odonnell, three great-grandsons, Brady, Bryan and Brayson Parker of Meadow and one great granddaughter Brynlee of Mansfield. He is also survived by one sister, Rhonda Wheeless of Crosbyton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Don Forbis.
