Died unexpectedly June 11, 2024 at the UMC Hospital in Lubbock, TX at the age of 74.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1949 in Spur, TX to Thed D and Cora Moore. He married Shirley Lynn Smith in 1970. They were married 21 years and had two daughters before divorcing. He later married Doris Grabber in 1993 and divorced in 2006.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Shelley Allen and husband John Allen with their children Jay Allen and Saige Allen, all of Lubbock, TX. Shannon Hurst and husband Clint Hurst with their children Trey Hurst and wife Brecklyn, great grandson Karvis Hurst and one on the way. Cade and wife Ashtyn Hurst, and Keegan Hurst, all of Friona, TX.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents Thed D and Cora Moore. Four brothers, Robert, Hilton, John, and Thed D Jr. Six sisters, Gladys, Hazel, Sue, Shirley, Betty and Beatrice.

Roy was a hard worker and enjoyed wood working, fishing and the Dallas Cowboys. He owned his own business, West Star Paving, for 34 years.

A small memorial visitation is scheduled from 2pm - 4pm on Sunday July 30, 2024 at Zapata Funeral Home and burial of his ashes will follow at Spur Memorial Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
