Sharron Wright Obituary

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. Sharron Sue Wright passed from this earth peacefully at her home Sunday, July 14, 2024. If she could describe a perfect day, it would be having both of her boys by her side as she ran into the arms of Jesus.

Sue was born on January 13, 1938 to the late Frank and Bertha Gallegly in Amarillo, Texas. She was the baby of the family, having two older brothers, Dick and Dale Gallegly. Sue attended Palo Duro High School, and was in the graduating class of 1956. She remained in Amarillo until she married the love of her life, Tom Wright on November 29, 1958.

Tom and Sue built their life together in Canyon, Texas, Claude, Texas, Matador, Texas and ultimately called Paducah, Texas their home for over 45 years. They later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas in 2020.

While living in Paducah, Sue was involved in many things. She worked for the Paducah Post and West Texas Utilities, and served as a volunteer for Hospice. Tom and Sue were members of the First Baptist Church where Sue served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher for many years. There is one thing that can never be denied, and that was the unwavering love Sue had for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Tom and Sue completed their family with two Sons, David and Frank.

Sue loved everyone, but the love and devotion she had for her sweet “Tommy” for 64 years was a sight to see. She was truly smitten. But beyond him she loved her family and she loved them deeply. Sue would greet you with a “hi honey” when you walked in the room followed by a hug and a kiss. She never met a stranger and was quick to help anyone in need. Sue loved a good yard sale and any chance she got to stroll the aisles at Wal-Mart made for a good day in her book. When grocery shopping, Sue’s list consisted of sweets and only sweets, and that was perfectly okay if you asked her.

Sue is survived by two sons, David Wright and wife, Sally of Wichita Falls, and Frank Wright and wife, Dana of Paducah; five grandchildren, Crystal Johnson and husband Jeremy of Wichita Falls, Jackie Wright of Wichita Falls, Jenny Bateman and husband Bo of Electra, Hailey Hawkins and husband Travis of Knox City and Hayden Wright of Paducah; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah, Mason and Natalie Johnson, Josie and Olivia Crutcher, Dawson Bateman and Knox Hawkins; two sister-in-law’s, Vera Gallegly and Sue Gallegly; a list of nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored very, very much and the amazing caregivers who devoted their time to taking care of her each and every day. Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Tom, parents Frank and Bertha, brothers Dick and Dale, and one great-grandson, Tres Johnson.

If Sue could tell you one thing, it would be how much Jesus loves you. She wanted nothing more than for everyone she crossed paths with, to know and love Jesus on a personal level. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire us all, reminding us of the profound truth that Jesus, indeed, is the sweetest name we know.

The family respectfully requests that any memorials in Sue’s name be sent as a donation to the First Baptist Church of Paducah, P.O. Box 609, Paducah, TX 79248 or the Garden of Memories Cemetery, P.O. Box 805, Paducah, TX 79248.
