Obituary

Susan Jo Gillette-Waters of Jayton, Texas passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023 in Jayton, Texas at the age of 76. Susan was born May 7, 1946 in Pecos, Texas to Betty (Porter) Malone and Charles Gillette.

After high school Susan attended Texas Western University and received her bachelor's degree in English. In 1968 she started her long 38-year career in teaching, during which she received her master's degree in Political Science. Susan was avid debater with anyone who was willing. Susan had many joys in life none greater than her daughter Rachel, grandsons Liam and Eoin, and reading. Susan retired from teaching in 2006 enabling her to move closer to her daughter. Life robbed her of the use of her legs, but it never took away her wit or sense of humor.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Betty Malone, step-father Louie Malone, father Charles Gillette, step-mother Winnie Gillette and her brother Chuck Gillette.

Susan is survived by her daughter Rachel Horn and husband Chris of Spur, TX, two grandsons Liam and Eoin. Her sibling's Walter Malone, Ann Smith, May Gillette, Bill Gillette, and Janette Christiansen, many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews
