Syble Annette (Detwiler) Wofford, lovingly known as “Nana,” passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in Childress, Texas, at the age of 85. Syble was a lifelong resident of Paducah, Texas, where she was known for her tireless work ethic, fierce independence, and generous heart. She ran a beloved local donut shop and bakery for over 18 years, serving up sweet treats and warm smiles to generations of customers. Her legacy as a caregiver and community pillar will be remembered by all who knew her. Syble is survived by her granddaughter Christy Wofford-McClendon and husband Craig of Childress; grandson Billy White of Paducah; grandson Josh Wofford and wife Christy of Vernon; grandson David Wofford of Vernon; daughter in law Leatha Wofford of Vernon. Great Grandson Maleke Wofford and wife Kim of Plainview; Great grandson Tate Wofford of Childress. Great Granddaughter Breezee McClendon of Childress; Great Granddaughter Adisyn White of Paducah. Great granddaughter Clara Wofford and great grandson Jacob Wofford of Vernon; Great granddaughter Katy of Abilene and 8 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Randy Detwiler and wife Selina of Paducah; brother-in-law DelRae McKeehan of Frisco; brother Robin Detwiler of Sour Lake, Sister Janet Mullins and husband Tom of Broken Bow and many
cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Syble was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, William Melvin Wofford; her children, Gwendolyn Lynnette Wofford and Gary Ray Wofford; her parents, William Francis Detwiler and Captolia Azel Decker Schoen; her sister Betty McKeehan; and brothers Tim Detwiler, Gary Detwiler, and WF Detwiler Jr.
A celebration of Syble’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 1st at First Baptist Church in Paducah, followed by graveside services at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held earlier that day at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church. Her spirit, strength, and sweet legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
