Victor Truitt (Vic) Read

Victor Truitt Read was born October 17, 1961, in the Motley County Hospital in Matador, Texas.  He died January 27, 2026, in Matador, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Truitt Read and Chelsea Read, of Matador. He is survived by his daughter Lauren Brooke Raber of Stamford, Texas, his granddaughter, Indianna Danielle Tanner, of Stamford, his sister, Debbie Terry and husband Malcom, of Liberty Hill, Texas, his brother, Scott Read, of Runaway Bay, Texas, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Vic had been a member of the Methodist Church the majority of his life, most recently in Matador. He had participated in the Walk to Emmaus.

He graduated from Crosbyton High School, where he participated in FFA, football, basketball, cross country, and track. He ran at the state cross country meet his senior year and got 5th at state in the mile in track the same year.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Matador Methodist Church, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
