Wanda Merlene (Fincher) Cox Bell

Wanda Merlene (Fincher) Cox Bell, 98, of Girard, TX passed away on September 28, 2021, in Cranfills Gap, TX.

Wanda was born in Girard, TX to Charlie and Sara Fincher on November 20, 1922. She graduated from Girard High School in 1940. She married Marshall Cox on December 28, 1940, in Spur, TX. Wanda worked in the cafeteria for Jayton School for 28 years. She also worked several years as a green thumb for Jayton High School.

Wanda is preceded in death by parents, two husbands, seven brothers, two sisters and a daughter-in-law.

Wanda is survived by son Larry Cox of Cranfills Gap, TX, daughter Merlene Cox of Midland, TX, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday October 3, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Jayton, TX with Pastor Jake Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Jayton Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
