Zella Mae “Goolsby” Palmer was born into this world on July 10, 1932 to M.D. “Slim” and Lillie Mae Goolsby. She passed from this life to her eternal home in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 3, 2024 attaining the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.D. Palmer, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 2 nieces.
She is survived by her sons, James Palmer, wife Pat, of Roaring Springs, Tx and Johnny Palmer, wife Tammy, of Lubbock, Tx., 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Plus, there are a multitude of those she claims as children, grandchildren and numerous friends and family including nephews and nieces and their families.
Zella was married to J.D. Palmer on January 20, 1950 and they traveled the road of life together until his passing on October 21, 1998. To this marriage two sons were born, James and Johnny, as mentioned previously.
She, Zella, Mom, Mam Maw, loved to sew, cook (really, she loved to feed people), play the piano, and sing. She loved to work and serve others. Most every holiday, when she was able, we carried plates of food to those who couldn’t provide for themselves.
Her great love was to read and study the Word of God. She wore out numerous bibles and devotional books in the course of her life. And, if you were a part of her life (or just someone she knew that was in need) you were on her prayer list on in her prayers.
There is not enough words, time, or space to list all that is/was important in the life of this lady.
